Forced & Precautionary landings

If things go wrong when your 3500 feet, i.e.: engine failure, bad weather etc, in the air then the first thing to do is not to panic.....!!!!
The first rule of being a pilot is the safety of your life, others around you or with you and the aircraft.
Later on in training once you have become familiar with the aircraft and laws for flying low then you will have to have lessons on the below areas:

16) Forced landings without power
17) Precautionary landings and operations at minimum level

I have done a couple of these already but for my practical exam I will have to be perfect at these just to show that if all goes wrong then I am more then capable to preserve life.

Below are my notes I use before I take part in this lesson:

• HOLD ATTITUDE FOR 65 KT

• TRIM ALL THE WAY DOWN

• CACULATE WIND DIRECTION – TRY TO FLY INTO WIND

• SELECT FIELD – PORT SIDE/ AHEAD /STARBOARD SIDE

• SELECT HIGH POINT & HIGH POINT – ACCOUNT FOR WIND

• TURN TOWARDS HIGH POINT

• TRY RESTART –
FUEL ON & SUFFICENT, MIXTURE RICH, THROTTLE IN, MAGS ON, POWER ON.

• TURN TO TOWARDS LOW POINT

• MAYDAY CALL –
MAYDAY X 3, CALL SIGN, TYPE, POB, PROBLEM, LOCATION, INTENTIONS.

• PRE LANDING DRILL –
MIXTURE OUT, THROTTLE CLOSED, FUEL OFF, MAGS OFF, HARNESS TIGHT,
DOOR ADJAR,PAXS BRIEF.

• GOOD LOOKOUT AT HIGH POINT

• FLAP IF NEEDED
