Exams

When also training for the JAR-FCL PPL(A) you have to do 7 ground exams which you must have a pass rate of 75% or above. I have completed all my exams with a decent degree, of course like any exams of this calibre there has to be a lot of discipline in reading and learning at home.

The 7 subjects include:
• Air Law
• Meteorology
• Navigation
• Aircraft Technical
• Flight Planning and Performance
• Human Performance and Limitations
• Radio Telephony

The material I used for this was JAR syllabus “The Air Pilot's Manual” series by Trevor Thom have become internationally recognised as the foremost pilot training textbooks. With new, easy to read page layouts and excellent, clear computer generated graphics throughout they offered me the best opportunity for easy learning of the Flying and Ground subjects for the Private Pilot Licence. They are standard issue for flying training organisations in the United Kingdom and throughout the World.
I bought mine from Transair based also at Shoreham in a bundle, as this was cheaper then individually. http://www.transair.co.uk
